BAYSIDE, QUEENS -- Amazon's superhero comedy series "The Tick" returned to Queens this week to film the first scenes of its second season.
"The Tick" shot scenes in Bayside on Monday and parts of Tuesday, said Greg Morrison, an assistant location manager for the show.
"We just started filming yesterday for season two," Morrison told Patch. "We wanted to make sure we still had a presence in Bayside."
The NYPD cleared parking along Bell Boulevard between 38th and 43rd avenues on both days to make way for production trucks. Cast and crew shot scenes a few blocks away at a house on 218th Street and 40th Avenue, Morrison said.
The cast then moved on to film in Long Island City for the remainder of Tuesday, shooting scenes in an office space off 37th Avenue, he said.
"The Tick," a web TV series produced by Amazon, is based on a 1986 comic book character that was later adapted into animated and action shows.
Peter Serafinowicz plays the satirical superhero who arrives to the city in a blue tick costume to help combat crime. The show also stars Yara Martinez of the hit CW television show, "Jane The Virgin."
Amazon premiered its first season of "The Tick"in August and the second half in February. The web series' second season was announced in January and is slated to finish filming by mid-July. It will likely premier the following fall, Morrison said.
He said the cast returned to the same Bayside and Long Island City locations they filmed at for the first season, and will likely be back in Queens again soon.
"They're both great places," Morrison said. "We'll probably be back in Bayside. We plan on going back in one of the later episodes, but it hasn't been written yet."
